GEN 3.2  Aeronautical charts

1.   Responsible service

1.1 The Aeronautical Information Services Division of Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia is responsible for producing all types of aeronautical charts for use by civil aviation. The aeronautical charts are produced in accordance with the provisions contained in Annex 4 - Aeronautical charts. Differences to these provisions are detailed in subsection GEN 1.7.

2.  Maintenance of charts

2.1 The aeronautical charts included in the AIP are kept up to date by amendments to the AIP. Corrections to aeronautical charts not contained in the AIP are promulgated by AIP Amendments and are listed under GEN 3.2.8. of this subsection. Information concerning the planning for or issuance of new maps and charts is notified by AIC.
2.2 En-route chart is published twice a year. Whenever major changes are made to the design and structure of the ATS route network, then publishing of chart will be done instantaneously. For latest and valid information refer to ENR 2, ENR 3, ENR 4 and ENR 5.
2.3 If incorrect information detected on published charts is of operational significance, it is corrected by NOTAM.

4.  Aeronautical chart series available

4.1 The following series of aeronautical charts are produced:

  1. Aerodrome chart - ICAO;

  2. Heliport chart;

  3. Aircraft Parking Chart - ICAO;

  4. En-route Chart - ICAO;

  5. Standard Departure Chart - Instrument (SID) - ICAO;

  6. Standard Arrival Chart – instrument (STAR) – ICAO;

  7. Instrument Approach Chart – ICAO (for each runway and procedure type);

  8. Visual Approach Chart - ICAO;

  9. Bird concentrations in the vicinity of aerodrome;

  10. World Aeronautical Chart (WAC) - ICAO 1:1000000;

  11. Aeronautical Chart – ICAO 1:500000.

Note: “Aerodrome Obstacle Chart - ICAO Type A” is not published for Chinggis Khaan International Airport and Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport, Choibalsan International Airport, Khovd International Airport and Muren International Airport because no obstacles exist in the take-off flight path area.

The charts currently available are listed under GEN 3.2.5.

4.2 General description of each series

  1. Aerodrome Chart - ICAO

    This chart contains detailed aerodrome data to provide flight crew with information that will facilitate the ground movement of aircraft:

    1. from the aircraft stand to the runway; and

    2. from the runway to the aircraft stand.

  2. Heliport Chart

    This chart contains detailed heliport data to provide flight crew with information that will facilitate the ground movement of helicopter:

    1. along helicopter ground and air taxiways

  3. Aircraft Parking Chart - ICAO

    This chart is produced for those aerodromes where, due to the complexity of the terminal facilities, the information to facilitate the ground movement of aircraft between the taxiways and the aircraft stands and the parking/docking of aircraft cannot be shown with sufficient clarity on the Aerodrome/Heliport Chart — ICAO or on the Aerodrome Ground Movement Chart — ICAO.

  4. En-route Chart - ICAO

    This chart is produced for the entire Ulaanbaatar FIR. The aeronautical data include all aerodromes and the air traffic services system in detail. This chart provides the flight crews with information to facilitate navigation along ATS routes in compliance with air traffic services procedures.

  5. Standard Departure Chart - Instrument (SID) - ICAO

    This chart is produced whenever a standard departure route - instrument has been established and cannot be shown with sufficient clarity on the En-route Chart - ICAO. This chart provides the flight crew with the designated standard departure route instrument from the take-off phase to the en-route phase.

  6. Standard Arrival Chart — Instrument (STAR) - ICAO

    This chart is produced whenever a standard arrival route —instrument has been established and cannot be shown with sufficient clarity on the En-route Chart — ICAO. This chart provides the flight crew with information that will enable them to comply with the designated standard arrival route - instrument from the en-route phase to the approach phase.

  7. Instrument Approach Chart - ICAO

    This chart shall provide flight crews with information which will enable them to perform an approved instrument approach procedure to the runway of intended landing including the missed approach procedure and, where applicable, associated holding patterns. Instrument Approach Charts-ICAO shall be made available for all aerodromes used by international civil aviation where instrument approach procedures have been established by the State concerned.

  8. Visual Approach Chart - ICAO

    This chart shall provide flight crews with information which will enable them to transit from the en-route/descent to approach phases of flight to the runway of intended landing by means of visual reference.

  9. Bird concentrations in the vicinity of aerodrome

    This chart provides information of bird concentration recorded in the approach zone of an aerodrome.

  10. World Aeronautical Chart (WAC) - ICAO 1:1000000

    This chart shall provide information to satisfy the requirements of visual air navigation.

  11. Aeronautical Chart – ICAO 1:500000

    This chart shall provide information to satisfy the requirements of visual air navigation for low speed, short- or medium-range operations at low and intermediate altitudes.
